Dental Appointment

On Wednesday, January 24, I woke up with just horrible indigestion, a result of stress.  I hadn't slept very well that night knowing that I had a dental appointment that next afternoon. I have included a photo illustrating my level of stress. In case you couldn't guess, I am the one in the middle!

My Dental Appointment

I was early for my dental appointment and had to wait, as my stress level kept on rising, and rising, and rising... After a couple of minutes another couple entered the reception's waiting room. They both looked like they were in their late fifties or early sixties. As the receptionist opened the door to the inner dental sanctum, I couldn't help but feel I needed to take a deep breath and get ready for the inevitable that awaits me. She announced, "Mr. Kolb, we are ready for you." A temporary reprieve! I watched Mr. Kolb stand up and turn to his wife saying, "Aren't you going to come in with me?" She just looked at him with a large smile and replied, "I always go in there by myself." I have never seen someone so dejected. It was as if he was marching to his final judgment. As he entered the jaws of the beast, his wife calmly said, "Men can be such wimps."

Earlier that week, I decided to prepare for my dental appointment and had asked a friend if she would go with me to help lend some moral support. She knows and understands the stress of knowing that you have a dental appointment in the near future. I will not mention her name to protect the innocent, but J.P. and I have had an ongoing, 'Who is going to be the reigning Dental king/queen?' I would get a crown, she would get a bridge. I would have a couple of cavities taken care of, she would have a root canal. This Battle for the title has been going on too long and it is costing us a fortune. I have finally had to give up and relinquish my title, giving it to her. So, the big question was - Is she going to help give me moral support in my time of need. She turned me down!

I did survive that dental appointment, but unfortunately, for me, I have to go back one more time to finish this dental procedure. Is there anyone who reads my blog who would be willing to stand with me and give me moral support in my upcoming time of need, my next dental appointment?
