Mini Vacation

Our whole family, dogs and all, took a short vacation staying at Convict Lake. Convict Lake is located on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, just off of Highway 395 and ten miles south of Mammoth Lakes in California. We decided to schedule our mini vacation for the week before Memorial Day. That is the last week before the summer rates go in to effect. When we arrived, Sally was quite excited seeing all the deer. It was her first time seeing a deer in the wild. This happened to be the time of the annual deer migration. Sally and Gail were able to see deer each day while we were at Convict Lake. The dogs got to swim twice a day and hike at least once a day. They were literally in 'Dog Heaven'. The weather was great and we all had a great time.

In the evening, we would drive to Mammoth Lakes for dinner. We ate at a couple of different 'dog friendly' restaurants. Yes, the dogs almost always get something from our plate. Usually it is some vegetables and maybe a small piece of chicken. This was a vacation the whole family will remember.

We ended our vacation by driving down to Arcadia for a Nose Scent Work trial the dogs were entered in. I have included photographs of Convict Lake, the cabins where we stayed and a couple photos from Arcadia. They had a unique way of celebrating Memorial Day holiday in Arcadia County Park.
