Skye 2026

Skye is the latest addition to our family. He is a twelve-year-old miniature Aussie and will turn thirteen next month. Skye came to us after both of his owners had died within six months of each other last year. Skye is the second mini-Aussie that we have had in our family.

This has been a year of firsts for Skye. He has gone on a number of trips with us. He has gone to the beach in Seascape, traveled to a Nose Scent Work Trial in both Arcadia and Pacific Grove, been to Shaver Lake, and ran and played at Loomis Basin Community Park near Sacramento. He is a much-traveled dog now. He has found a play buddy in Sally. The two of them play almost every morning. Gail, on the other hand, has taken the high road and tolerates him. He also has started to learn what Nose Scent Work is and Nancy tells me he does quite well in Nose Scent Work practice.

An Update on Nancy’s Hip Surgery

Nancy’s social secretary has reported that her hip replacement surgery last Wednesday went really smooth. It went so smooth, that two days later she was up and walking around the neighborhood. Today, the Monday after her surgery, she walked the dogs three miles. She is actually walking better now than she was before the surgery. Nancy is one tough lady!

They say that duct tape has one thousand and one uses, it can be used to repair/hold anything together. After seeing the location of Nancy’s incision, it looks like it's covered by a short length of duct tape. Now, I can say duct tape has one thousand and two uses. Okay, I know the surgeon didn’t really use duct tape, but it looks pretty darn close to me.
