Spring Trip 2026 to Convict Lake

This was the third year that we have taken the two girls, Gail & Sally, to Convict Lake. This year we tried staying in Mammoth Lakes instead of renting a cabin. It was okay, but nothing great. We ended up staying at a Motel 6, definitely NOT the best. But, when you have two big dogs, where you can stay is very limited. It was nice being closer to restaurants and we got to walk the village, even though it was pretty empty. The upcoming Memorial Day weekend is the start of the summer season and a sizeable increase in motel fees.

We really take this vacation for the girls. Both Gail and Sally knew exactly where we were going when we stopped at our usual rest stop that has a little dog park. They were super excited.

They just love going to Convict Lake. After all, they should; they get to swim twice a day while we are there. They also get extra munchies when we go out to eat. We always select a restaurant/brew pub where we can dine outside. This is one great trip for the girls.

As you view the photo gallery below, some of the photos were taken in the morning and some in the afternoon. I included a photo with a bunch of college kids in their bathing suits – it was 25 degrees the previous night and the high for the day was in the low 50’s. I can remember those days!
