Gail 2026

You are probably wondering why there is a July 4th photo to begin this blog post. That is because Gail was born on the next day, July 5th. Gail will be celebrating her tenth birthday on the fifth. Time sure seems to go by fast.
Gail, like me, is a senior. She had torn her left ACL three years ago and we have tried to make sure that it didn’t happen again. This past year she tore her right ACL. We immediately scheduled her for surgery, which was successful. Being a senior, her recovery has taken longer, but she is doing much better. She may not be back to where she was before the surgery, but she is getting around well.
As I am writing this post, I can’t help but be reminded that Gail is a dog who likes routines. She is much like me in this way. When it is about 5:30pm, she will come and stare at me to remind me that it is time for one of the treats that I give the dogs in the evening. She is the catalyst. If I don’t stop whatever I am doing, it will not be too long before the other two dogs will join her. If you have ever had three dogs staring at you, you know you have to stop whatever you are doing, get up and give them their treat. I call it the stare of the ‘Evil Eye’.
As many of you know, I am a late-night owl. Nancy tells me that I keep vampire hours. Nancy goes to bed way before I do. After Nancy is in bed, the dogs will soon follow. But Gail, will take a short nap, get up, and move to the hallway to sleep. She knows that I always go around and make sure all of the doors are locked, etc., before going to bed. That is her signal to get back up, follow me around, and wait for a small treat. After she gets her treat, she heads back to the bedroom and goes to bed. Just like that, she got a little extra treat and the other two are no wiser. I guess you could say, “Gail and I have bonded.”

I have decided to add a gallery of 12-15 photos that I have taken each month to my web site. You can view the photos that I have taken by clicking on the Gallery tab on the menu and choose the month you would like to view. I hope you enjoy the photos. Happy 4th of July!
